Matt
Busbee is an Orthopaedic Surgery Sports Medicine
fellow at the American Sports Medicine Institute
(ASMI) in Birmingham, Alabama. He is beginning
his first year on the University of West Alabama
Sports Medicine Staff.
Dr. Busbee grew up in Mobile, AL where he
graduated from Murphy High School. He then
graduated from Auburn University in 1999 with a
bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science.
While at Auburn, he was an All-American swimmer
and a member of two NCAA championship teams and
four SEC championship teams. Dr. Busbee
then attended medical school at the University
of Alabama School of Medicine. After graduating
from medical school in 2004, he trained at The
Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. Matt
completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery
in 2009 and moved to Birmingham to begin his
Sports Medicine fellowship under Dr. Andrews,
Dr. Cain, Dr. Dugas, and Dr. Clancy.
Dr. Busbee and his wife, Lauren, have two
children Walker and Kathryn. He enjoys
spending time with his family, swimming, and
fishing.
