Laurie
A. Fincher, MAE, ATC/L begins her second year as a member of The University of
West Alabama Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Staff as an Assistant
Athletic Trainer/Instructor. She primarily works with the volleyball team and
assists with spring football. She also serves as the faculty advisor for the
UWA Sports Medicine Club.
Laurie began her
athletic training career at East Carolina University, a CAAHEP accredited
athletic training education program, where she received her B.S. in Athletic
Training in 2004. While serving as an athletic training student, she worked
with football, women’s soccer, softball, baseball and volleyball.
After graduating
from ECU, Laurie attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and obtained a
Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology in 2006 while working as a graduate
assistant athletic trainer primarily with the football team. She has been and
continues to be an active member in state, regional, and national professional
associations since 2001. Most recently, she was elected to the Alabama Athletic
Trainers’ Association Executive Board.
Laurie is a native
of Raleigh, North Carolina and currently resides in Livingston, AL.
