Andy Grubbs, MEd, ATC

Associate Athletic Trainer/ Clinical Coordinator/ Instructor

Andy is beginning his fourth year at The University of West Alabama as an Associate Athletic Trainer/Instructor and Clinical Coordinator at UWA.  He came to The University of West Alabama from St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital System in Savannah, GA where he was the Head Athletic Trainer at South Effingham High School for two years.  Andy received his B.S. in Athletic Training from Valdosta State University in 2001.  While a student at VSU, Andy worked with men’s basketball, baseball, and football.  After graduating from VSU, Andy attended Auburn University as a graduate assistant and obtained a Master’s Degree in Physical Education while working primarily with the football team during his two years at Auburn.  Andy serves as the Clinical Coordinator and Instructor in the CAATE accredited athletic training education program at West Alabama.  Andy is also assigned coverage of the university’s football and baseball team.

Andy serves as the Alabama representative to the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association Educational Multimedia Committee and was awarded the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association Backbone Award in the spring of 2007.  Andy is married to the former Shanna McFarland of Shorter, AL who begins her third year as Assistant Athletic Trainer/Instructor in the UWA Department of Physical Education and Athletic Training.  Andy and Shanna are expecting their first child in December.
