Shanna
M. Grubbs starts her fourth year as a member of The University of West Alabama
Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Staff. After serving one year as a
Graduate Assistant and finishing her Master's Degree at UWA, she was promoted to
Assistant Athletic Trainer/Instructor in the fall of 2006. Shanna's primary
athletic training responsibilities are with the UWA softball and volleyball teams, and she is
responsible for teaching courses in the CAATE accredited athletic training
education program. She also serves as the faculty sponsor for the Beta
chapter of Iota Tau
Alpha Athletic Training Honor Society.
Shanna began her
athletic training career at Auburn University where she received a B.S. in
Exercise Science with an emphasis in Psychology in 2003. While earning her
undergraduate degree, Shanna worked with the AU football, soccer, gymnastics,
softball, and swimming and diving teams. After graduation from Auburn, Shanna
completed a year of graduate studies at Middle Tennessee State University before
moving to Savannah, GA to work for St. Joseph's/Candler Health Systems as the
Head Athletic Trainer at Groves High School in Rainbow City, GA.
Shanna is married
to Andy Grubbs, the Associate Athletic Trainer/Clinical
Coordinator/Instructor at UWA. They are expecting their first child in
December.
