Dr.
William R. Simpkins, family practice physician, came to Livingston, in 1974. He
founded Livingston Clinic, Inc. in 1974. He has served as the UWA Infirmary
physician for UWA athletics for 34 years.
He attended Livingston University, University of Hawaii, and received a BS
degree for Auburn University. He completed the University of Tennessee School
of Medicine, Memphis, Tennessee in 1970. He completed an internship at John
Gaston Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in 1971.
He practiced in Demopolis, Alabama with Drs. Whitfield and Ketcham from
1971-1974.
He is a member of the American Medical Association, Alabama Medical Society,
Sumter County Board of Health, Alpha Epsilon Delta International Honor Society,
and a member of the Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation.
Doctor Simpkins and his wife and nurse Carole, have five children; Russ, Kate,
Temp, Margo and Jennifer. They are proud grandparents of four, Kane, Natalie,
Jackson, and Thomas Hasty. He has one loyal border collie - Champ. Doctor
Simpkins is an avid tennis player. He is a cattleman and belongs to the Sumter
County and State of Alabama Cattlemen’s Associations. His hobbies include
reading, fishing, and spending time with his family on their farm. He is an
Auburn University and UWA sports enthusiast and a member of the Livingston
United Methodist Church.
