The NATA Foundation has just approved a new issue of its ongoing educational series, Building Blocks for Clinical Practice. The issue focuses on recognition of heat related illnesses. The latest issue of Building Blocks is now available on our website at http://www.natafoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/9-Types-of-Heat-Illness.pdf.
We hope this program will help athletic trainers build a stronger foundation of clinical practice provide valuable tools for athletic trainers working as clinicians and educators as well as students growing in our profession. Feel free to print out these documents or forward the link to parents, athletes, coaches or anyone else who might benefit from the information. We welcome feedback from the membership on this program and ideas for upcoming issues.

The NATA Foundation has benefited from a pair of silent auctions that have been held recently. The NATA Foundation Silent Auction that was held during the NATA Convention was a huge success, raising a record $10,962.00.
A second silent auction took place at the District 6 meeting in July. A record amount of $4,673 was raised at the SWATA meeting.
The NATA Foundation would like to thank all who donated items and participated in both of these auctions. We look forward to setting more records next year! If you’d like to donate an item, please contact Rachael Oats at rachaelo@nata.org.

The Shoe Box Society for Planned Giving is designed to honor those who utilize estate planning to support the mission of the NATA Foundation. These commitments hearken back to the visionaries who founded NATA in Kansas City in 1950. Those pioneers undoubtedly knew their efforts would benefit all who would follow them in the profession much more than themselves. Please consider becoming a member of the shoe Box Society.

The 2014 Athletic Training Student Challenge is set to begin on October 1st. The 2014 Athletic Training Student Challenge offers your club a unique opportunity to support the NATA Foundation by raising money to help our organization meet its goals. Last year’s efforts raised more than $12,500 for the NATA Foundation’s annual fund and endowment program. We’re hoping that, with your help, the 2014 will be even bigger and better!
As an ATSC participant, your donation can be made to the 2014 Annual Fund, to help the NATA Foundation with important initiatives like the research and scholarship programs. Or your school can elect to designate its donation to go directly to one of our NATA Foundation research or scholarship endowments that hasn’t yet been fully funded.
