PRACTICAL SIGNIFICANCEGRANT INFORMATION SUMMARY
This study demonstrated that unconstrained active joint position sense is similar in subjects with and without unstable shoulders.  This similarity may be due to an increased reliance on musculotendinous receptors in instability patients to maintain joint stability.

Recent Foundation Board Actions

^

NATA Research & Education Foundation Board of DirectorsYour NATA Research Foundation Board held its October conference call on 10/30/09 and 11/10/09.  Below are some highlights of the actions taken on this date:

October Discussions/Actions
Most of the items addressed on the October call were procedural in nature and ranged from a discussion on the NATA Injury Surveillance System, to the Foundation’s awards program and the Project Program.  The group also addressed the Foundation’s public relations efforts, including a suggested Brand Message and tagline, and the new Foundation Twitter account.  All Board members were encouraged to follow Foundation activities on the Twitter account (www.twitter.com/NATAFoundation).

Elections for representatives to the Foundation Board of Directors will be held in February.  (Current Board Members are listed at www.natafoundation.org/leadership.html#Board) The following positions are available:

  • President (current President is eligible for another term)
  • Vice-President, Governance (current Vice President, Governance is eligible for another term)
  • Vice-President, Finance (current Vice President, Finance is eligible for another term)
  • Board Member District Two
  • Board Member District Nine
  • Board Member District Ten

November Discussions/Actions
The two items discussed on the November call were the 2010 Development Plan and the Corporate Champion Program.

The 2010 Development Plan is tied directly to the Foundation budget.  New goals and objectives were set and strategies for implementation were included.  There is an emphasis on increasing giving among key volunteers and the NATA membership as a whole.  In addition, the plan focuses on the importance of retaining existing donors.  The Board voted to approve the 2010 Development Plan as presented.

The Corporate Champion Program is the Foundation’s new sponsorship development plan.  In the past the Foundation has received funds from NATA’s sponsorship program, but this income has decreased over the years.

Staff will administer the Corporate Champion Program with advice and input from a Corporate Donor Group appointed by the Foundation President.  The primary emphasis will be on developing relationships with our business partners to promote long-term giving from this group.  The Foundation’s tax advisors are currently reviewing the plan to ensure benefits are appropriate and follow laws related to this area.  The Board voted to approve the Corporate Champion Program as presented.

The next Foundation Board Conference Call was conducted Tuesday, December 8 at 11:00 A.M. CST.
