Third
Issue of
Building
Blocks |
^ |
|
|
The NATA
Foundation
has
produced
its
third
Building
Blocks
of
Clinical
Practice
titled
“Viral Infections
of the
Skin.”
This
document,
which is
attached
and
available
electronically
through
the
Foundation
Web site
at
https://www.natafoundation.org/PDF/BuildingBlocks3rdEdition.pdf,
is a
one-page
flier
with
definitions,
causes,
symptoms
and
treatments
of viral
infections.
We hope
this
program
will
help
athletic
trainers
build a
stronger
foundation
of
clinical
practice
and will
be a
valuable
tool for
athletic
trainers
working
as
clinicians
and
educators
as well
as
students
growing
in our
profession.
Feel
free to
print
out
these
documents
or
forward
the link
to
parents,
athletes,
coaches
or
anyone
else who
might
benefit
from the
information.
We
welcome
feedback
from the
membership
on this
program. |

Renewing
Your
NATA
Membership?
The
Perfect
Time to
Contribute and Support the Annual Fund |
^ |
|
|
We are
close to
the end
of 2010
and
encourage
you to
support
the NATA
Foundation
this
month!
There
are
several
options
available
to show
your
support:
No
donation
is too
big nor
too
small…every
dollar
contributed
by
members
provides
critical
support
for NATA
Foundation
initiatives.
Some
additional
considerations
for
giving:
-
Want
to
make
a
$100
donation
to
the
NATA
Foundation,
but
just
can’t
afford
the
one-time
$100
at
this
time?
-
there
any
options!
-
Your
team
physician
is
very
interested
in
supporting
the
NATA
Foundation
but
would
like
to
do
so
through
his/her
clinic.
Is
this
possible?”
-
YES! The NATA Foundation started the “Medical Group Plan” for clinics, hospitals, etc. as a value-added option to extend the objectives and mission of these facilities in supporting research and scholarships in athletic training.
Questions or comments? Contact NATA
Foundation
Development
Manager
Heather
Franklin
(heatherf@nata.org
or

-
Is
there
a
way
I
can
also
help
to
get
my
colleagues
to
support
the
NATA
Foundation?
-
Can
I
honor
some
of
my
mentors
or
colleagues
with
my
contribution
to
the
NATA
Foundation?”

Foster
Welch
Leaves
NATA
After 20
Years |
^ |
|
|
After
20 years
of
service
to NATA,
Research
&
Education
Foundation
Executive
Director
Teresa
Foster
Welch,
CAE,
left
NATA in
November.
She
became
executive
director
of the
Building
Owners &
Managers
Association
(BOMA)
of
Dallas.
Throughout
her
tenure
at NATA,
Foster
Welch
occupied
a number
of
different
roles.
She
started
as
assistant
to three
directors
(the
executive
director,
assistant
executive
director
and
meetings
director).
Foster
Welch
remembered
that
time as
a
juggling
act. "I
found
out
quickly
that I'm
not good
at
answering
the
telephone
or
anything
that
involves
machinery."
she
recalled.
As NATA
grew, so
did
Foster
Welch.
She
moved
from
assistant
into the
communications
department,
where
she
worked
on the
NATA
News,
the
Journal
of
Athletic
Training,
sponsorship
and
public
relations.
educated
in
writing
and
public
relations,
Foster
Welch
thrived
in the
communications
and
eventually
took
over as
director
of
Marketing
Communications.
Foster
Welch
then
moved to
the
executive
department,
as
associate
executive
director.
In 2009
she was
named
executive
director
of the
NATA
Foundation.
During
her 20
years at
NATA
Foster
Welch
watched
the
association
grow
into
what it
is
today.
She said
it would
be
impossible
to pick
a
favorite
moment
from her
20 years
of
memories,
but she
is proud
of the
things
NATA has
accomplished.
"I'm
happy I
was able
to play
a small
part of
the
success
of the
organization,"
Foster
Welch
said.
Foundation
President
Mark
Hoffman,
PhD, ATC,
says
they
will
miss her
"endless
energy,
enthusiasm
and
positive
attitude."
A social
butterfly,
Foster
Welch
says she
will
miss the
people
she met
through
her work
at NATA.
"The
number
one rule
of
association
management
is that
volunteers
are
members
- not
your
friends.
Fortunately
I don't
mind
being a
rule-breaker
and
consider
many
athletic
trainers
my
friends,"
she
explained.
"I hope
to keep
in touch
with
them
even as
I move
into
this new
job."
"Our
loss is
BOMA's
gain,"
NATA
Executive
Director
Eve
Becker-Doyle,
CAE,
said.
"Teresa
has made
a
tremendous
contribution
in her
20 years
with
NATA and
the NATA
Foundation.
She'll
do the
heck out
of her
new job
just as
she has
at every
position
she's
held
here.
We'll
miss her
tremendously
but wish
her the
best in
this
great
new
adventure."

This

females
perform
athletic

a way
that may
predispose
them to
ACL
injuries,
and that
participation
