A Look at the NATA Foundation Goals

^

In this issue and the next six issues, we will be focusing on the Goals and Strategies of the NATA Research & Education Foundation.   Each of these six Goals is equally important to fulfilling the mission of this organization.  This issue lists the six Goals but the numbering order is just used to facilitate organization of information and does not reflect relative importance.  In subsequent issues, we will highlight each goal, one goal per issue.

GOALS AND STRATEGIES

  1. Advance the knowledge base of the athletic training profession.
  2. Encourage research among athletic trainers who can contribute to the athletic training knowledge base.
  3. Provide forums for the exchange of ideas pertaining to the athletic training knowledge base.
  4. Facilitate the presentation of programs and the production of materials providing learning opportunities about athletic training topics.
  5. Provide scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students of athletic training.
  6. Plan and implement an on-going total development program that establishes endowment funds, as well as restricted and unrestricted funds, that will support the research and educational goals of the Foundation.

An Update from the Scholarship Committee

^

We will be offering over 70 awards this year to entry-level, masters and doctoral athletic training students.

Notifications to recipients will be made by April 15th and presentations at the Pinky Newell Athletic Training Student Awards luncheon on Wednesday, June 27 in Anaheim.  New awards this year are made possible by sponsorships for two scholarships from the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association (District 4) and one from Castle Worldwide.

NATA Foundation Congratulates Journal of Athletic Training

^

The Foundation congratulates the Journal of Athletic Training for its acceptance by the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE (previously titled Index Medicus), the world's most prestigious medical database.  This recognition will serve to increase the exposure of the high quality research conducted in athletic training, which can benefit others within the health-care community who are involved with advancing patient care.  We thank all who had a part in this, particularly Journal Editor-in-Chief Christopher Ingersoll, PhD, ATC and his predecessors, but also all of the authors whose works made this possible.
