Whitney Smith, MAT, ATC
Athletic Trainer/Clinical Education Coordinator/Instructor

This fall marks the beginning of Whitney Smith’s seventh year at the University of West Alabama.  After completing a graduate assistantship at UWA she joined UWA’s athletic training faculty in July 2010.  Whitney currently functions as the Clinical Education Coordinator as well as Athletic Trainer and Instructor for the UWA’s Athletic Training Program.  She also manages private patients, our weekly Physician’s Clinic, and coordinates the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers.

Whitney began her athletic training career at Lee University, a CAATE accredited athletic training education program, graduating with her B.S. in Athletic Training in December 2007.  In 2008, she began working at Florida Institute of Technology as an Assistant Athletic Trainer before she made the move to the UWA in the fall.  While working as a graduate assistant at UWA, Whitney received her Master of Arts in Teaching Physical Education and worked with volleyball, softball, rodeo and cross country.  She is currently the athletic trainer for Cheerleading.
